Inculcating a habit of reading from a young age is one of the best gifts a parent can give to their children because starting early is much more beneficial for them in terms of better attention span, fluency in reading, enhanced interpersonal skills and obviously excel in academics. Obviously reading is something someone can start at any given age but when kids are young their minds are like moulds and can adapt better.

Kids who develop the habit of reading at an early age are good at comprehending situations and develop a better sense of understanding and empathy than those who do not read. They are capable of understanding serious situations and are very thoughtful!

Again, books such as Percy Jackson and Lord of the Rings have given people complete freedom to explore the world of fiction. It is because creative minds like these are powerhouses of exciting amusements and we can only agree more if we had read some of those amazing creations.

Increased Attention Span

Encouraging good reading habits from an early age increases their attention span and helps them to focus better and for longer periods of time. In the digital era that we’re living in the attention span of children is decreasing owing to their increased use of social media and video games, reading would be a great tool to improve this aspect, even if it’s on an iPad or a Kindle. Again reading broadens one’s mind and gives them a peek into how great minds work. Reading and understanding these great minds definitely adds up to their confidence and they become capable of understanding and presenting themselves in a great way anywhere.

Builds Personality

The phrase ‘you become what you read’ perfectly couldn’t be more apt for this point. A good book can unfold you into a better person. Let’s take the example of Harry Potter. It’s a book about how in the end good will triumph over the evil and the importance of making good friends and being one! It can enhance one’s emotional development and cultural awareness. Books help one discover themselves and explore their own personality.

Readers are leaders

Whether they read the kids newspaper or books, reading keeps a person updated and what’s trending. Reading is the best way a person can invest their time. Reading has always and will always help anyone grow into a better version of themselves but they need to keep learning and changing. One example that can be taken is that of Elon Musk who is an avid reader. He spent his entire childhood just reading!
